Protests erupt in Colombia as far-right set to win presidential election

Protests have erupted in Colombia against the election of the far-right candidate Abelardo de la Espriella. Though election officials have yet to formally announce a winner, with almost all of the votes counted, the pro-Trump lawyer and businessman is set to defeat his left-wing opponent Ivan Cepeda. Trailing behind by around 250 000 votes, the left-wing senator told supporters his team would be challenging results from tens of thousands of voting stations.

How FLIC Trust Scores workFLIC Trust Scores turn community ratings into a 0–100 signal about how readers assess a story. Fake News votes lower the score, while Liberal, Conservative, and Independent classifications support it. The formula also rewards a balanced split between Liberal and Conservative ratings instead of treating one political viewpoint as automatically more trustworthy. Scores can change as more people vote and represent community judgment, not a factual verdict or substitute for reading the original reporting. Learn more about how FLIC works.
